Description of the Call

1. The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize (STIP) (中銀香港科技創新獎) is a merit-based award established by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation (HKATI), and sponsored by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. The Prize aims at rewarding outstanding scientists and research teams who have made significant contributions to the science and technology innovation, as well as the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in Hong Kong.
2. Applications for the STIP should be made by nomination. The nominees are preferably be scientific and technological innovators aged 50 or below (with birthday after 1 Sep 1973). The technological innovation or scientific research work should be primarily completed in Hong Kong, and in, but not limited to, the following areas:
3. (i)    Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (人工智能及機器人)
   (ii)   Life and Health (生命健康)
   (iii)  New Materials and New Energy (新材料新能源)
   (iv)  Advanced Manufacturing (先進製造)
   (v)   FinTech (金融科技)
4. The STIP will award 5 individuals or groups per year, with one awardee per above-mentioned area. Each awardee (individual / group) will receive a prize of HKD 2 million.
5. The STIP has no eligibility requirements on nominators. Each nominator can only nominate one candidate or one candidate team per year. Self-nomination is not allowed. All nominations should be submitted via the official website of the STIP.

Requirements on PI's Position

(1) The nominee should support the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China and hold high social morality and professional ethics.
(2) The nominee’s technological innovation or scientific research work for the award has been primarily completed in Hong Kong.
(3) The candidates should be under the age of 50 (with birthday after 1 Sep 1973) before the nomination deadline in principle, but the age limit can extend to 55 for exceptional candidates.
(4) Those who have already won this prize will not be considered within 5 years.
