MITOEX provides a technology to easily extract mitochondria from the cells.Mitochondria, also known as the powerhouse of the cells, is a very important organelle within the cell membrane that provides energy for our daily needs. Mitochondria dysfunction was linked to diseases such as cancers, neurodegenerative disorders, and cardiovascular diseases. Thus, the analysis of mitochondria is crucial to understand disease mechanisms and to develop new drugs.However, mitochondria will need to be extracted out from the cell before all kinds of analysis, and current extraction methods significantly deteriorate mitochondrial quality. Here in MITOEX, we selectively break the outer cell membrane only, without disrupting the mitochondria inside. We hope that our technology can deliver mitochondria with better quality, and thus accelerate the scientific discovery of mitochondrial diseases.
