Event Highlight | CUHK and CUHK(SZ) Joint Seminar Series: Drug, Vaccine Testing and Development

Co-organised by CUHK and CUHK (SZ), and coordinated by the Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services (ORKTS), this seminar on Drug, Vaccine Testing and Development was held successfully on 17 February 2022 (Thur), with over 120 participants from both campuses. The majority were from the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Science.

In the seminar, Prof. Joan Zuo ( Director and Professor, School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, CUHK)  introduced the bioequivalence service at the CUHK, and also focus on explaining the bioequivalence test and the bioequivalence of the drug itself, dosage forms and excipients from the perspective of BCS application in the development of new medicines. 

And Prof. Maggie Wang (Associate Professor, JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, Faculty of Medicine, CUHK) touched on the hot topics of bioinformatics methods in vaccine development, the opportunities and field applications. She also introduced their own contributions in the field including mutation prediction and vaccine effectiveness estimation by sequence analysis.

Prof. Richard Ye from Shenzhen campus also shared his first-hand knowledge of the matter in Shenzhen at the end of the Q&A session chaired by Prof. Benny Zee (Director of ORKTS)  and Prof. Sham Mai Har (Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Vice-President (Research), CUHK).
