From 15 to 16 February 2023, Mr Zhang Liwei, Secretary of the Longgang District CPC Committee, led a delegation to visit The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to carry out exchange activities on economic, trade, science and education.

In the afternoon of 15 February, Mr Zhang Yuqing, Deputy District Mayor of the Longgang District, and Professor Chan Wai-yee, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Developments) of CUHK, signed the "Framework Agreement for Strategic Cooperation in the Field of Medical Services and Healthcare" on behalf of the two parties. The agreement aims at deepening collaborations on fundamental and clinical research, developing talents and knowledge transfer to enhance integration into the development strategy of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and contribute jointly to the development of the Greater Bay Area.

At the seminar, representative of the Longgang District introduced the current situation and development plans of the Longgang District, followed by sharing on the successes of researches and ventures from the leaders of CUHK research teams under TSSSU scheme and CUHK alumni, including Prof Ngai To (Professor of Department of Chemistry), Prof Lu Yi-Chun (Professor of Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering) and Prof Yang Xiao (Assistant Professor of Department of Microbiology).

On 16 February, Secretary Zhang Liwei met with Professor Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and Professor Alan K.L. Chan, Provost of CUHK to discuss cooperation and joint development in the areas of education, technology, industries and talents in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
