Event Highlights | Social Impact Academy Webinar Series: Innovative Elderly Care - a case sharing by Sheng Kung Hui (14 March 2024)

In this highly engaging webinar, over 50 attendees were inspired by experienced frontline social workers on various challenges and opportunities about aging society in Hong Kong.

Ms. Poline Chan of Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council (SKHWC) started the session by providing an overview of elderly services addressing issues like chronic illnesses and loneliness exacerbated by COVID-19. Service gaps faced by social workers were also outlined.

Ms. Annie Dai, also from SKHWC, then shared an indepth case study on the "E-Generation" knee pain management project, in collaboration with HKJC. She explained how various digital tools and group exercises have been applied in an innovative model to help elderly manage their health.   

The presentation was followed by a discussion with active participation by the members of the audience including Professor Jean Woo of CUHK Jockey Club Institute of Ageing and Ms Eugenia Lo from HKCSS. Through these presentations and dialogues, audience were able to gain valuable insights from seasoned professionals and scholars on gaps and opportunities around healthy aging support.
