Event Highlights | Social Impact Academy Webinar Series: The D. H. Chen Foundation - Journey to Compassion-based Philanthropy & Social Innovation (24 May 2024)
With more than 40 attendees, guest speakers Mr. Peter Poon and Ms. Ruby Yong from The D. H. Chen Foundation shared valuable insights into the Foundation's vision and unique compassion- based approach in creating social impacts.
To kick off the session, Peter provided a comprehensive overview of the Foundation's history, vision and values. He also highlighted that the Foundation is guided by core values such as Gratitude, Trust, Openness, Respect and Selflessness, with the aim to help build a compassionate society.
Ruby then continued to share a few examples of initiatives led by the Foundation, following the framework of ‘From Breath to Death’, targeting different beneficiary groups at different life stages. She also shared some collaboration projects between the Foundation and CUHK.
The inspiring sharing was followed by an interactive discussion among speakers and audience, including Mr. Chris Yiu (SLCO Community Resources) and Dr. Chow Wai Yin (SouLight), who run social enterprises funded by S-KPF scheme.
