ORKTS and CUIHK Innovation Limited have co-hosted the Start-up Coaching Session which we had the honor of hosting Mr. Peter Dingle, Head of Ecosystems and Partnerships for Global Asset Management, Venture Capital, at HSBC Asset Management on 12 Jun 2024. His session was an engaging deep dive into the art of pitching and fundraising for early-stage startups.
Peter shared a 14-step framework for structuring a compelling pitch deck, highlighting essential elements for 30-second, 3-minute, and 30-minute pitches. But the real magic happened during the open Q&A session that followed.
During the Q&A session, entrepreneurs from the audience posed critical questions: How can you pitch effectively with minimal experience? What’s the best approach to seek funding and advice from investors? What do VCs prioritize when investing in startups? Peter’s candid responses dispelled common entrepreneurship myths.
His straightforward insights on investor perspectives - team evaluation, pitch pitfalls, and the importance of likability - were invaluable. This direct interaction left a lasting impact on our founders.
