Event Highlight | Silicon Valley International Invention Festival 2024 (26-28 July 2024)
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) researchers have achieved a remarkable feat at the Silicon Valley International Inventions Festival (SVIIF) 2024, held from 26 to 28 of July. CUHK has won a total of 11 awards, including 5 Gold Medals and 3 Silver Medals. Notably, 2 of the winning inventions were honored with 3 special prizes, including the Prize of the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA), Prize of the United Inventors Association of America (UIA) and Prize of the China Association of Inventions (CAI), showcasing the CUHK’s prowess in innovation and research excellence.
Among 8 outstanding projects, 3 of the award-winning projects were developed within the world-class InnoHK research centres led by CUHK, which collaborate with top-tier research institutions worldwide. Furthermore, another 3 projects through university-supported startup companies led by CUHK researchers or their transformation into thriving social enterprises. These achievements underscore CUHK's commitment to translating cutting-edge research into practical applications that benefit society.
CUHK's remarkable success at the SVIIF 2024 underscores its unwavering commitment to transforming research into tangible applications. The University will continue its efforts to encourage staff and students to develop innovative solutions that help solve global issues.

About the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival
The festival is under the patronage of the City of Santa Clara, the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). SVIIF was created to publicise state-of-the-art inventions from around the world and provide a unique opportunity for inventors to receive not only high-ranking international awards for their inventions but also to cultivate the American market in the heart of inventions, Silicon Valley.
