On August 31, 2024, Cyberport hosted the graduation ceremony of the Cyberport University Partnership Programme (CUPP) Web3 2024. The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Mr Daniel Cheung, JP, the Deputy Commissioner (Digital Infrastructure) from the Digital Policy Office of The Government of the HKSAR, Mr Simon Chan Sai-ming, BBS, JP, Chairman of Cyberport, and Asra Nadeem, Chief Executive Officer of Draper University, who delivered insightful opening remarks. They shared invaluable perspectives on Web3 and Fintech development in Hong Kong, committed to promoting cross-sectoral business cooperation, providing training opportunities for young people, and offering advice to the CUPP teams venturing into Web3 startups.

 

Professor Daniel HS Lee, Associate Vice-President (Innovation and Enterprise) and Dr. Victor Lau, Head of Venture Acceleration, Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services represented CUHK at the ceremony, celebrating the success of CUPP and reaffirming CUHK's commitment to nurturing the next generation of tech leaders.

 

Following the opening remarks, the final awards were presented. Out of the 20 participating teams, 10 were recognized, with the winning team receiving a grant from the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund (CCMF). CUHK proudly had two nominated teams, Earnet and Membeefy, both of which received grants and support from CCMF. Congratulations to these teams! It is believed that with the assistance of Cyberport, they will be able to further develop their ideas and successfully transition them into sustainable businesses.
