Event Highlight | Crack the Code to Startup Success in Southeast Asia! (12 Sep 2024)

On September 12, 2024, the "Crack the Code to Startup Success in Southeast Asia!" event was successfully held at the InnoPort. Organized by the InnoPort Team, the event attracted a diverse group of participants, including startup founders (InnoPeers members) and students eager to delve into the dynamic world of startups.

The event featured engaging talks from distinguished speakers, including Mr. Khairul Rusydi, Co-Founder & CEO of Reactor School, and Mr. Basil Cheung, Founder & Director of Elio Brand Consultancy, and part-time lecturer for the Master of Advertising program at the School of Journalism.

During the Investor Pitch-off section, five InnoPeers+ startup teams including Mobut, Hetaro Labs, ReCube, Doko technology and SmartAge Intelliegnce presented their innovative ideas to the panel. Rusydi provided real-time feedback on improving their chances of raising funding from venture capital firms, while Basil shared branding strategy and creative pitching skills for each startup teams.

Finally in the workshop section, Rusydi shared challenges and economic opportunities in Southeast Asia for startups ready to expand overseas. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the exclusive insights shared during the event and the actionable strategies they could implement in their ventures.  Also, they enhanced their understanding of effective strategies for launching and marketing startup. The feedback highlighted the need for more such events that bridge knowledge gaps in the startup community.

We will invite the teams to join the Marketing Practicum offered by students from Basil’s Master of Advertising class in October. This practicum will provide hands-on experience and practical insights into marketing strategies tailored to each startup’s needs. At the end of the consultation service, a comprehensive Marketing Blueprint will be provided, outlining actionable steps and strategies for the teams to implement.

Meanwhile, Rusydi has expressed interest in coaching certain teams. His coaching will focus on empowering them to navigate the unique challenges and opportunities in Southeast Asia, helping them to refine their business models, improve their pitches, and develop strategies for market entry and growth in the region.
