Mr. Derek KWIK, Managing Advisor, DGBY Advisors Group

Derek Kwik is the Managing Advisor of DGBY Advisors Group and he brings a vast network of influential business leaders across Asia, deep knowledge across multiple industries, and a knack for generating creative ideas into commercial success. His insights and connections have helped DBGY to successfully close several high-profile deals and partnerships in the region. Derek is also a highly respected thought leader in the Asian business community, and his advice is frequently sought after by entrepreneurs and investors alike.


Derek is a highly experienced operations focused team leader with over two decades of experience in market entry, product development, and business growth. He has a proven track record of success in building and scaling businesses across a variety of industries, including mobile payments, consumer electronics, robotics, and digital media. In the early days of the Internet Bubble, Derek worked at one of Hong Kong’s first venture capital firms to originate, execute and manage TMT investments from ideation to exit. He managed funds for the HKSAR, Singapore GIC, DoCoMo, Fujitsu, Mitsui, Sun Microsystems and PCCW. He contributed to the fund's success in achieving a gross IRR of 149% for all realized or publicly traded investments and 115% gross IRR for all investments.


Derek’s combined experience is unique in his conviction that full immersion within a company’s operations is essential to understanding the company post-investment. The journey from investor to management execution was an evolution that awarded him a strong track record in value creation and delivery, people management, fundraising, China manufacturing, sales and marketing and investor relations.


Derek is also a start-up community leader and board member to youth education and animal welfare organizations. He has authored two books, is a TEDx speaker, tech conference speaker and university guest lecturer.
