Funding Framework for 2024/25 Exercise –

Nature

Platform projects are applied R&D projects that are industry-oriented and have potential for commercialisation.

Seed projects are exploratory and forward-looking projects.

Funding Ceiling per Project

No funding ceiling (Projects with budget over HK$50M will be submitted to the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council for approval.)

Max. 24 months

Max. 18 months

Industry sponsorship

Min. 10% of total project cost from at least one company

  • Guide to Filling in the Application Form

  • For ITSP (Platform & Seed) Projects, the maximum total amount of salary allowance for Research Talent Hub (RTH) will be capped at the final approved total project cost. Applicants please make sure the budget for manpower has been commensurately set for the projects. Please refer to ORKTS website for details.

  • In preparing the project budget, please ensure the required project deliverables such as patent application have enough funding budgeted for the filing and/or maintenance of such arising from the project. Please note that the University will not be obligated to provide funding support for such patent applications.

 

Application Procedure –

Applicants please submit the following application materials to Grants Team, ORKTS (orkts_grants@cuhk.edu.hk) by the internal deadline. Late applications will not be accepted.

  1. Completed Application Form (via the Innovation and Technology Commission Funding Administrative System II (ITCFAS II));
  2. Declaration form endorsed by Head of relevant academic unit via the e-Declaration System (details available here); and
  3. CUHK research ethics approval in PDF format, if necessary
